The color of the blackout grey curtains is dark gray, and they DO blackout the sun, but they work best with a set of blinds underneath (we have wood 2" slatted blinds). The sun is harsh in the room we installed these in from 12-8p during the spring-summer, so these are a must.If we didn't have the blinds, they would be less dark than room darkening.Both sides are the same color, but there is not an additional PANEL on the back (unlike some others we have purchased)The material has pinholes (tight but only noticeable when the sun is blaring)They do block the sun effectively and street lights, but again we are using them as a secondary layer to rid whatever light was coming in.Wrinkles: yes, there are wrinkles, and I have used a steamer and a setting on my dryer to release one panel in particular, and I can not get the wrinkle out of one panel. However, I will state that when we hung them and steamed them, they were most responsive to a steamer, and most wrinkles came out, but this one is in between and very noticeable. Had these not been for an upstairs room, where only my OCD is bothered by the wrinkle that won't release, I would have returned them.There are 2 panels in one package. The material is odd, like soft thick nylon, that if you have a rough finger and run it along it, it will snag it (rough), yet it looks great hanging, which is all that matters. Great price, and it shields the light and sun. But they do not have the blackout panels on them.
